Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Cotton was a Certified Public Accountant and his business experience has served his clients well. In over twenty-seven years of experience, he has represented clients in commercial, construction, toxic tort, medical malpractice, professional malpractice, and contract cases. Mr. Cotton has tried cases in numerous Texas courts and he as represented clients in federal courts around Texas.
Recently, Mr. Cotton has been primarily representing sport shooting ranges in Texas, having written a bill for the 2011 Texas Legislative Session that was passed as Senate Bill 766. This law provides extensive protection to Texas sport shooting ranges and Mr. Cotton tried and won the first case under the new law. Since then, he has represented and consulted with other Texas shooting clubs and ranges.
A growing focus for Mr. Cotton is mediation, both as an attorney for a party and as a mediator. His broad-based experience in several areas of practice and his proven ability to work well with people from all walks of life make him a logical choice to serve as a mediator in a wide variety of cases.
Mr. Cotton received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 1987 and is a member of the State Bar of Texas. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubble in its Peer Review Rating system, the highest rating awarded.
